Stafffighters e-Learning Project
This chapter aims to teach one of the holding guard positions, "Guarda de espera alta à ponta do pau na posição esquerda" (for athletes with the dominant right hand).
It is common in combat to use the type of movement that is quickest and that most facilitates the rotation of each attack or places the body in the most appropriate defensive position. For that, we have to include two more movements: Avançar and Sair.
Being the opposite movement to the previous one, "Sair" works in the same way.
"Sarilho Redondo por Cima" is an old defense technique, that works as a great exercise for increasing ease in handling the staff and acquiring coordination. In this case a defense technique agaisnt an ataque coming from below.
Sarilho Volteado is an advanced ofensive technique that combines a simulation attack with a sweeped defense and countert attack, that works as a great exercise for increasing ease in handling the staff and acquiring coordination.
